our impact

Cause Areas

We currently support the following 3 causes, where we endeavour to make a difference:
The Be BlueRock Foundation exists to build stronger communities. That’s why we believe in supporting Australian causes and charities that make a difference at a grass roots level.
The foundation made a strategic decision to support 3 main causes that are identified as being important and inspiring to our community. These causes will change over time to allow the foundation to have a far-reaching impact. But before we do that, we want to have a deep impact and really make a difference to vulnerable cohorts or environments.
“We should give as we would receive, cheerfully, quickly and without hesitation; for there is no grace in a benefit that sticks to the fingers.”
Seneca

Environment and Conservation

One of the greatest challenges of our time is arguably climate change.

Every person on Earth will be affected but the poor and vulnerable will be hit first and worst. In Australia, we can already see the results of climate change in our landscape: coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef and the bushfires devastating our forests and country. The Be BlueRock Foundation supports grass roots projects that are tackling the issues that impact on our environment to potentially halt and reverse climate change.

1

Mental Health (Youth)

Suicide is the leading cause of death among young Australians.

It accounts for a staggering one-third of deaths in people aged under 25 – more than road accidents – and many more live with suicidal feelings. Mental ill health extends beyond the individuals directly suffering depression and anxiety to their families, friends and broader networks. Through our corporate giving and fundraisers, BlueRock supports a number of organisations, which in turn support young people and families touched by mental ill health.

2

Financial Literacy for Vulnerable Cohorts

The Be BlueRock Foundation partners with local not-for-profit organisations committed to building the financial capability of all Australians within a fair financial system. We work with local agencies to assist vulnerable individuals and families, providing relief grants and financial literacy training.

We operate on the premise that the best way to address economic disadvantage is to help individuals and families break the cycle of poverty towards financial independence and to arm them with the skills they need to achieve financial security and self sufficiency.

Our BlueRockers also volunteer time to offer ongoing guidance on budgeting, saving and financial planning. Each individual client’s needs are assessed and the counsellors plan a time-limited targeted financial contribution aimed at bridging financial gaps. This is followed by meetings between the client and program coordinators to lay the foundations for longer-term planning.

Many of the organisations we work with report an increasing demand for their services and a large percentage of the participants are single mothers who are managing their family’s budget on their own.

When appropriate, BlueRock will also provide in-kind support, financial grants which  the agencies usually distribute in the form of vouchers for Coles, school uniforms and utility bills.

“We cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibres our actions run as causes and return to us as results.”
